About the Book
When I first started this project it was just going to be an information packet for my new clients. It didn't take me long to figure out that I had a lot to say, and what I wanted to talk about should be known to the client before they walk through my door. I too started out as a collector of tattoos, and had no knowledge whatsoever of the potential disasters that can occur.
I wanted to keep it simple without all the confusing technical talk. I needed to express the facts without boring you to death by reading hundreds of pages for just a few tidbits of information. My book " Collecting Tattoos" is full of useful information from start to finish, and it's only one hundred pages. I wrote the book as if you and I were having a one on one conversation, and I'm explaining to you all the things you can do to make the process of body modification easier for both of us. Many first timers have no idea what to look for in a professional parlor to match their needs. It's easy to get hustled by artists that are just in it for the money, and care nothing for quality. Questions are repeated so often in the tattoo parlor that the artist usually knows what you're thinking and will give you answers before you ask, making you think their a mind reader. We get so used to questions that our speeches include a variety of answers. In my book I answer 25 of the most common questions that I hear. From does it hurt to, can scares be covered? I give advice on things you should know concerning designs and placement on the body, to help you understand what to look for, through an artists perspective. I also warn you of dangerous areas of the body that tend to reject ink. Speaking as a friend, we also cover some social concerns and legal aspects.

` Healing of course has its own chapter and covers everything from the moment your tattoo is finished, to trouble shooting problems with healing. I talk about infections, skin reactions, and potential hazards for your new body art. You'll get to learn how the procedures work in a professional tattoo parlor, what to expect from your first time checking out parlors, and appropriate questions to ask. I talk some on body piercing as well, with lots of tips to keep you on the right track. Another goal is to set the foundation for a good client-artist relationship. When you find an artist your comfortable with you will more than likely return to them each time. You made it through a unique and somewhat painful experience with them and you are confident you can do it again. The main thing I try to reinforce is that you listen to yourself very carefully. The way you "feel" will be your guide on this adventure. If you have any doubts about the parlor or artist, it would be best to examine your options before committing to this lifetime decision. I wish you the best of luck with your quest and hope my book brings you the answers your looking for.
